“Blue has no dimension, it is out of dimension, contrary to the other colors. All colors bring associations of concrete ideas. While blue recalls at most, the sea and the sky, and what it is in the tangible and visible nature, the most abstract”.

Friday is here again. As you may know, Fridays are dedicated to the French design on my blog. Today’s topic is about one of the most inspiring color – International Klein Blue. The topic has been inspired by looking into the sky and thinking about holidays 🙂
From a very young age, Yves Klein, the French Painter, was fascinated by the blue skies of the Mediterranean, so much so that “he resented the birds for making holes in the biggest and most beautiful of all his artwork”.
He worked on monochromatic paintings, and in 1957 created International Klein Blue (IKB), an exceptional hue inspired by the Mediterranean sky. Despite all his paintings being colored in one shade, he applied different textures with sponges and rollers, creating a unique feel in every canvas.

Design news
International Klein Blue is that famous French paint brand “Ressource Peintures” created a particular pigment paint, which is not only color. It has a specific light and texture which makes this International Klein Blue a unique color.
“Ressource Yves Klein shade captures the mystery and magic of this color and that’s what makes this paint so exceptional. This supreme blue is characterized by its unparalleled profundity. Just like Yves Klein’s monochrome paintings, it gives space a new dimension.”

That’s such a beautiful and inspiring article ! I love the statement about blue being the out of dimension, probably the first time I see blue this way. Klein blue being one of the most captivating blue hues, this article and the accessories and furniture selection is just stunning. Makes me want to paint (again) my walls 🙂 !
