The idea to establish Musée des Tissus de Lyon was in the late 18th century to showcase a beautiful collection of textiles, dresses and home textile objects. But it hasn’t been built until 1850. The biggest motivation to finalize the creation of this museum was participation in the Great Exhibition in London, where Lyon could showcase artists’ most beautiful silk creations for the generations to come.
